Forum: texts Subject: Proof reading a book I am interested in

I am interested in proof reading one particular book in "Sacred Books of the East" [1]. I find that the ASCII version of the OCR-ed file has lots of spelling errors [2]. How do I go about it.

Just FYI, I am a programmer and very comfortable with using text editor like Emacs.

Can I just correct the spellings and upload the text file or should I follow a specific process (for upload and approval).

I have also posted a query to Distributed Proof Readers. How do I move the OCR file and images to the DP site.

I am a begginner and a volunteer. I am not representing any organization and I would like to contribute in personal capacity.

Thanks for any and all quick pointers.

Btw, is there any IRC forum where I can interactive with other folks and get quick help.

TIA.
